Au Pair USA / Interexchange

You are ready to join the Au Pair life to have an amazing year? A year full of enriching experiences, fun and new relationships with people from all over the world? Nice, you made the right decision! Now you have to find a way how to actually join the Au pair life and to find a matching family..

Why choosing a program or an organization?

I personally chose to find my host family with help from Au Pair USA / Interexchange. I joined the program with absolutely no regrets. Many benefits and good services outweighed the little fee I had to pay for.
The journey started in New York. Every applicant is required to go to New York city to a 5-day Orientation and Training before joining the actual host family. We were a group of 50 Au Pairs from different parts of the world. It was an absolute unique experience. During the day people were teaching us about: First Aid, Childhood Development, Cultural differences, J-1 Visa rules, Insurance information, Social Security, and much more..

The meeting gave us a good insight about the American life and especially the American Au Pair life. But the best part is coming now.. Every day after we finished the Orientation, we had the chance to discover New York City on our own. How exciting!
We went out to eat in fancy restaurants, to see Musicals, Broadway shows, the central park, the statue of liberty, the Empire State building, Rockefeller center, Madame Tussauds Wax museum and so on. I overloaded my camera already in the first couple days. It was great.

After the Orientation, the real Au Pair experience started.. The Au Pairs got spread out in the whole country to see their host families. It was a very unique and unforgettable experience for all of us. We arrived, and we realized this was our life for the next year or two! I definitely did my best to make it as enjoyable as possible. I worked on my relationship with my host parents and kids. Also, I met very interesting people from all over the world and I started to build a social life too. Au Pair USA / Interexchange helped a lot with making friends. Once a month I had an organized meeting, where all the au pairs from my surrounding and the local coordinator came together. It was a chance to meet people, have fun together, and also talk about possible problems related to our Au Pair work.
